PHYSICAL THERAPY

The treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use of therapeutic exercise and the application of modalities, intended to restore or facilitate normal function or development. FVPT offers a wide range of treatments both traditional and cutting edge. Specialized programs include our TMJD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) rehabilitation program.

SOMATIC MOVEMENT NEUROEDUCATION
Developed by Thomas Hanna, PhD, this paradigm of rehabilitation emphasizs the ability to "sense" one's own muscle, maximizing each muscles' ability to perform and relax.

BREAST CANCER PHYSICAL REHABILITATION

Following breast cancer, individuals may have shoulder, neck, postural, back, or abdominal problems associated with surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. Our exercise programs can provide a gentle reintroduction to movement at any stage of recovery.

GROUP REHABILITATION, MOVEMENT CLASSES

FVPT is the most [and only] rehab, fitness, and movement studio in our area. Our mission is to provide quality, certified instruction in a safe and supportive environment that allows everyone, from every age and every level, to enjoy the healing benefits yoga has to offer through body, mind and spirit.

TEMPORAL MANDIBULAR JOINT DYSFUNCTION (TMJ AND TMJD)

The therapists at FVPT can help stop the clicking, popping and grating sounds to decrease your pain and restore your TMJ function. Our physical therapists focus on reducing the pain and discomfort of temporomandibular joint dysfunction by relaxing the tension associated with the temporomandibular joint through exercise and habit modification.

TRANSITIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM

How well and how quickly patients completely recover from their injuries often depends on how well they follow their post-rehab exercise programs at home. These can be very demanding, especially for those who did not regularly exercise before therapy. FVPT has designed a program where patients can return to FVPT, use the equipment, and consult with therapists after completion of therapy.

LASER THERAPY

Laser therapy, also known as phototherapy and low level laser therapy, involves the application of low power coherent light to injuries and lesions to stimulate healing and reduce pain. It is used to increase the speed, quality and strength of tissue repair, resolve inflammation and give pain relief. Laser therapy is used both in rehabilitation and injury prevention programs.

SPORTS MEDICINE

FVPT's sports medicine program has two tracts.
1) Athletes recovering from acute or chronic injuries
2) Healthy athletes focus on optimizing their performance and injury prevention
We stress a multilateral training program for both recreational and experience athletes that includes:

  • Endurance Training and Training Theory
  • Flexibility and Balance
  • Neuromuscular control and coordination
